Thumbnail Image
Featured image is also known as post thumbnails which tells about the post in sort.
The function named add_theme_support() is used to let the current theme to support Featured images. The following code has to be added in a file function.php which tell whether theme support thumbnail or not.
add_theme_support('post-thumbnails');
Adding Image
When you are writing a post an option show “featured Image” in this option you have to set the featured image from media library.
upload image from media library .
finally your thumbnails image is set to your post.
Depending on settings defined by your theme developer, your featured image will automatically appear with your posts.
